BALDWIN, NY — A person was fatally struck by a Long Island Rail Road train near the Baldwin station Monday morning, authorities said. The train involved was the 7:11 a.m. from Massapequa Park to Penn Station, the railroad said. The train had been scheduled to arrive at 8:08 a.m.

"Babylon Branch customers are experiencing 15-20 minute delays through Baldwin as we operate at restricted speed on one of two tracks due to a trespasser that was struck by a train near the station," the LIRR said on its website. "Westbound trains will be making all local stops. Eastbound service on the branch is extremely limited from Penn and Atlantic Terminal. Nassau County Police are on scene. We will keep you updated."
