An elderly woman asleep in her chair awoke to a nasty surprise Monday night: a burglar in her Baldwin home, police said.
At about 8 p.m., a male Hispanic subject, with a thin build and wearing a baseball hat, entered the Everett Court residence through an unlocked side door, according to police. The 81-year-old occupant then yelled when she saw the man standing in the hallway, causing him to flee.
No items were taken from the home and no injuries were reported.
