A 23-year-old Long Island man was killed in a car crash in Connecticut early Tuesday morning.

According to Connecticut police, an investigation revealed that Reed Latrowski, of Rockville Centre, was driving a 2016 BMW owned by Michael M. Besen, of New York City, and crossed the center of Route 7 in Brookfield for an unknown reason, crashing and rolling over at 3:51 a.m. Latrowski was wearing a seat belt and the air bag did deploy, but he died from his injuries, police said.

Latrowski was on his back to Long Island so he could vote, according to a report in The News-Times.

Latrowski was most recently working on a songwriting project with the homeless in New York City that was inspired by the talented artists he had met on the streets. He had hoped to record an album of original songs based on the stories of those he had met and use any proceeds to help the homeless community in New York City.

“He was always sensitive to the homeless since a very young age,” Latrowski’s mother told The News-Times.

In addition to his parents and brother, Latrowski is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Kazia; his aunts and uncles Lidia Latrowski, Thomas and Jean Turcic, Mary (Turcic) and John Suydam, and Stefanie Turcic; his maternal cousins Nicole (Daniel), Dina (Daniel), Kaitlyn (Gregory), Jenna (Michael), Luke (Caroline), Rebecca, Quinn, Sofia, Parker, Jack, Riley, and Lilian; his paternal cousins, Julia Rae (Nicholas) and Alec; and many loving friends.

Funeral arrangements are being held by Macken Mortuary in Rockville Centre. Visitation hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10. A funeral will be held at St. Agnes Cathedral on Friday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Latrwoski's memory to Women in Need, a charity dedicated to helping homeless women and their children rebuild their lives.
