RVC Receives NYCOM Local Government Achievement Award
The village was recognized for the Sandel Storytelling Workshops.

The New York State Conference of Mayors (NYCOM) has selected the Village of Rockville Centre as a winner of NYCOM’s Local Government Achievement Award for 2019. The awards program, in its 32nd year, recognized Rockville Centre for its Sandel Storytelling Workshops.
In commenting on the award, NYCOM President Gary McCarthy, Mayor of the City of Schenectady, stated: “The Village of Rockville Centre is to be commended for its innovative program to bond generations of its residents through recorded storytelling. It is just one example of how local officials continue to work diligently to enhance their communities and the quality of life for their residents.”
The village implemented a storytelling workshop for its senior citizens that has not only encouraged them to share their life experiences but has shown them how to do it effectively and easily. This program has benefited the seniors who have participated and has also brought the entire community together in a positive way.
