RVC Village Extends Two Building Waivers for Residents

Multiple fees waived until later in 2013.

The Village of Rockville Centre has announced two waivers that were extended at the April board meeting.

The Rockville Centre Board of Trustees announced that residential property owners will not have to pay the usual permit fees when rebuilding property damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

The waiver is being extended until Dec. 3, 2013, and applies "in kind" replacement construction only, not to any additional improvements.

Board of trustee members also extended the moratorium on a fee imposed on residents seeking to legalize building conditions for which they have no permits.

The so-called "maintain fee," normally $1,190, will be waived until July 10, 2013, in a pilot program to encourage residential property owners to legalize construction which is not in compliance with local and NYS codes in an effort to assure that all safety requirements are in place.
