A Rockville Centre man will spend the summer in Jordan researching how schools teach the theory of evolution as part of a fellowship at his college.
Andrew Talbot, a 2011 graduate of South Side High School, is one of 300 students to be awarded the fellowship from University of Richmond, where he majors in world politics and diplomacy. He traveled to Jordan from Morocco, where he was studying.
"The research fellowship ... allowed me to return to Jordan where I studied Arabic for two months last summer,” Talbot said. “This time around I am living in Jordan on my own, rather than with a program on a university campus. Being able to live on my own in Jordan and do research has been a memorable experience, and I am truly grateful to the University of Richmond for giving me this opportunity."
