Flash Flood Warning in Effect For Nassau County, More Than 7,000 Without Power
Rainfall rates of up to 2 inches an hour will be possible this evening. Get indoors if you can.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for all of Nassau County until 8 p.m. That's in addition to a severe thunderstorm watch, which also remains in effect until 8 p.m.
As of 6:08 p.m., there are 7,658 PSEG Long Island customers in Nassau without power. See the outage map here.

* At 459 pm...Doppler radar indicated a large area of showers and thunderstorms producing heavy rain approaching the warned area. Flash flooding is expected to begin within the next hour across portions of the area. Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches an hour are possible with localized higher amounts.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...New York...Oyster bay...Newark...Jersey City...Yonkers...Paterson...Elizabeth...New Rochelle...Passaic...Bayonne...Wayne... Hoboken...Plainfield...Bloomfield...Hackensack...Freeport... Linden...Valley stream...Long Beach and Glen Cove.
