Buy a Piece of a 'Living Legend' at RVC Store

Looking to score the autograph of an athlete, celebrity or politician? Warren Heller might just have you covered.

Heller is the owner of Living Legends Memorabilia, which recently reopened at 124 Long Beach Rd. in Rockville Centre. The store relocated from Bellmore after 17 years there. Superstorm Sandy led Heller to seek a more affordable location.

Living Legends attains much of its signatures by actually visiting ballparks and movie sets. Heller also works with agents and promoters. The store also takes requests.

“I’ll put a diligent effort to find what they’re looking for,” Heller said.

Along with framed pictures with autographs, the shop also features signed baseballs, bats, footballs and pucks.

Living Legends regularly hosts auctions for charities, including Schneider's Children's Hospital, Boy Scouts of America and the Breast Cancer Society. He also hosts signings at the store with professional athletes (former Yankee Joe Pepitone called the store during Patch’s visit).

Heller started collecting autographs as a kid, and attended trade shows for 10 years before opening Living Legends. He had been working as an lawyer then, and thought the memorobilia business wouldn’t last longer than two years. He eventually stopped being an lawyer.

"The memorabilia business isn't what it was, but we survived," he said. “We have to be doing something right."
