Spartans edge out Syosset last night at the Ice Works Arena. A tough fought game started out with the Syosset team taking a 2 goal lead. The Spartans who didn’t play a game for 2 weeks and had no practice due to the Thanksgiving weekend, came out a little bit flat to start the game. But with 2:07 left in the first period Harrison Chesney broke threw with his first of two goals. From that point on the Spartans found their legs and proceeded to score two more goals one by Jimmy Hennessy and the other by Quinn Murray making the score 3-2 in favor of the Spartans. The third period started with Syosset tying the score at 3 with 13:09 on the clock. At 9:20 the Spartans struck again with Harrison Chesney scoring his second goal and ten seconds later Avery Schwalbe connected making the score 5-3 Spartans. The Syosset team mounted a comeback by scoring one at 6:45 but the Spartans team and goalie Sean Walsh held on to defeat the Syosset team 5-4. Sean Walsh was awarded the RVC Ice Hockey Club game fedora in the locker room and was a happy camper. The next game and the only scheduled game in December, is on Sunday the 13th at 5:45 pm at The Town of Oyster Bay Skating Center.
