Village to Expand Recycling Program

The Village of Rockville Centre may soon expand its recycling program by placing recycling bins in public places and providing homeowners with new boxes for paper and cardboard, according to officials.

The newest village trustee, Emilio Grillo, told the Rockville Centre Herald that the bins will be placed on village streets “provided that they’re aesthetically OK” with the hope that they “promote more recycling” and generate revenue.

DPW Superintendent Harry Weed said new, “more appealing” cans will also be ordered for drink containers and plastics. The village’s documentation on recycling will be rewritten to make it easier to read and more comprehensive.
