4th Of July Fireworks 2021 Near Rye

RYE, NY — Although coronavirus cases continue to drop across the country while the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, many Independence Day celebrations have once again been canceled, modified or will be held virtually due to the pandemic.

We gathered up the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around the Hudson Valley over more than a week, so you can start planning now. If you know of one we missed, please add it in the comments and email jeff.edwards@patch.com.

Virtual events

John Jay Homestead: This museum at the home of one of the Founding Fathers has a host of virtual activities including Games You Can Play At Home and a thematic tour called John Jay and the American Revolution. If you act fast, you could order the American Revolution Activity Box created by the clever curators at the historic site in Bedford.

Westchester

Larchmont: Come celebrate July 4th with the Village of Larchmont in Constitution Park from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Hotdogs, DJ and More. RSVP Required by June 30, 2021

Mamaroneck: The Fireworks Display in Harbor Island Park will begin after sunset around 9:15 - 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 4. (Rain date is Mon, July 5.) Firemen’s Carnival will take place each evening, between 6:45 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., from Friday, June 25, through Monday, July 5, in Harbor Island Park.

New Rochelle: "Spark the Sound" Independence Day fireworks is re-scheduled for Labor Day weekend (September 3).

Peekskill: The city is not having the concert and fireworks for July 4 this year.

Port Chester: July 4 9 p.m. Port Chester High School Rain Date July 5

Ossining: No fireworks in Ossining this year, but a summer concert series of acoustic music begins July 7 in Market Square.

Rye: Rye Playland will be open

Scarsdale: The Fireworks Spectacular will not be held for Independence Day.

Somers: The Somers Independence Day Block Party will not be held in 2021.

Tarrytown: The annual fireworks display will begin at 9:15 p.m. The best viewing area is Pierson Park. There is also a summer concert series; click here for information.

White Plains: There will be no Independence Day Celebration in 2021.

Rockland

Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site: Learn about the daring nighttime assault by George Washington July 16, 1779, on the British who were building a fort there as part of their attempt to control the Hudson River. Catch a reading of the Declaration of Independence at 2:45 p.m. and hear the cannon roar at 3 p.m.on July 3 and 4.

The New York Boulders: The traditional fireworks celebration will take place July 3 and 4 after the Boulders take on the Washington Wild Things. They’re offering a fun deal they’re calling the Firecracker Pack: 4 ticket vouchers for the game July 3 or 4 (game starts at 6:30 pm on July 3 and 6 pm on July 4) plus 4 hot dogs/drinks, plus mini golf for 4 and 4 tickets for an additional Tuesday/Wednesday home game - and, of course, post-game patriotic fireworks! Palisades Credit Union Park, off Exit 12 on the Palisades Interstate Parkway.

Clarkstown: The town’s Independence celebration - including fireworks - will be at Nanuet High School July 1. The event starts at 6 p.m.

Nyack: The village brings back its annual Firework Show. In 2021 it’s 9 p.m. July 4 at Memorial Park. Please wear a mask if you are not vaccinated and maintain social distancing.

Mid-Hudson Valley

Kingston: The city of Kingston will not be having its July 4 fireworks celebrating this year.

Montgomery: 2021 Freedom Fest Fireworks will be held Saturday, July 17 in Thomas Bull Memorial Park. Gates open at 4 p.m.; fireworks begin at dusk. There will be live music and a variety of food trucks. For more information, go here.

Poughkeepsie: The city of Poughkeepsie will not be having fireworks this year for July 4.

Wappingers Falls: The Hudson Valley Renegades is hosting an evening of fireworks along with a movie at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 3 at Dutchess Stadium. The scheduled movie is "National Treasure." For tickets and information, go here.

Sunday, July 4, 12 p.m.
Fort Montgomery State Historic Site: Join us as we celebrate America's birthday by firing the fort's artillery. The program starts at noon with a Revolutionary era music demonstration.

Putnam

Kent: The fire department will hold its annual fireworks show at Lake Carmel after sunset June 26. Raindate is July 10.

Southeast: No fireworks this year. But put it on your calendar now: the Brewster Fire Department celebrates its 151th anniversary with a parade Aug. 21.

New York City

The Macy's fireworks show is back! It will include separate dedicated areas for fully-vaccinated New Yorkers and for those who are not vaccinated to watch the display, all managed by the NYPD.

Viewers can also check out the show on a two-hour special on NBC, which will feature performances by Coldplay, Tori Kelly, Reba McEntire, One Republic and others.

The 2021 show's theme will be "salute the hero within" in honor of New Yorkers' bravery and optimism during the past year, Macy's Producer Will Coss said. More than 65,000 shells and effects will shoot off from five barges lining the East River in Midtown.
