County Created Mini-Documentary About Playland

The county-owned amusement park opened its first new ride in more than 10 years during the 2019 season.

RYE, NY — Playland amusement park has been around since 1928. For the 2019 season, the Westchester County-owned park welcomed many new events and promotions, including the opening of a new ride for the first time in 11 years — “Dragonator.”

There was also a public art display, the first new commercial in 10 years and the addition of "Town Days," which promotes Westchester communities.

In honor of Playland’s Banner Year, Westchester County produced a short documentary on the history of the Park called Playland: Then And Now. Take a look back on the very first planned amusement park in the entire country.
