Cut Your Own Christmas Tree Near Rye

RYE, NY — Cutting down your own Christmas tree is a great way to kick off the holiday season and a fun excuse for a family trip. Many tree farms in the Hudson Valley also feature family activities and other seasonal offerings (think mulled cider).

Before you find the perfect tree, take time to stroll around the grounds and smell the fresh pine scent that so happily sums up the holiday.

Once you’ve found the perfect place, don’t forget you still have to find the perfect tree. You don’t want a tree that’s too tall — or wide — for your room. That means you need to know what size tree to get before you get to the farm. Measure your ceiling height and remember that a 10-foot-tall tree will typically be about 8 feet wide at the bottom.
