When the weather gets frightful, farmer's markets head indoors

RYE, NY—The season for outdoor farmers markets has ended but that doesn't mean you need to stop shopping for fresh local produce and one-of-a-kind products. Many markets in the area move indoors during chilly weather.

While there is less produce in the winter months, indoor markets offer baked goods, honey, cheeses, fermented foods, wine, artisanal specialties and often live entertainment that make them well worth a visit

Chappaqua

Chappaqua Farmers Market, First Congregational Church, 210 Orchard Ridge Road, Chappaqua

Hours: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 6, Feb. 3, March 3 and April 7. Weather permitting, a farmer's market will take place on Dec. 16 at the Chappaqua Train Station. For more information, click here.

Hastings-on-Hudson

Hastings Farmers Market, James Harmon Community Center, 44 Main Street, Hastings

Hours: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. first and third Saturdays of the month. Dates are Jan. 6 and 20, Feb. 3 and 17, March 3 and 17. In April, the market moves to the library lot at 7 Maple Avenue. For more information, click here.

Irvington Farmers Market, Main Street School Auditorium, 110 Main Street, Irvington

Hours: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. second and fourth Saturdays through April. Dates are Dec. 9 and 23, Jan. 13 and 27, Feb. 10 and 24, March 10 and 24. April 14 and 28. After April, the market will be held Sunday mornings in the school parking lot. For more information, click here
