FIDF WC-CT Chapter Supports IDF Soldiers In-Need

According to the IDF, the number of IDF soldiers facing economic distress has increased by 300% since the beginning of the pandemic.

Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) Westchester and Connecticut Chapter hosted a virtual event last week to raise awareness about FIDF’s DIGNITY program and help support Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers in-need.

According to the IDF, the number of IDF soldiers facing economic distress has increased by 300% since the beginning of the pandemic.

FIDF’s DIGNITY program provides soldiers in-need and their families with essential items such as furniture, electrical appliances, and other necessities. For those with severe financial difficulties, FIDF provides monetary assistance through special grants. In addition, holiday gift vouchers are distributed every year. This assistance allows soldiers to focus on their service without worrying about financial concerns at home.

Two IDF welfare officers joined the event: a Lone Soldier from Thailand who serves in the Israeli Air Force, and a commander at the IDF Bahad 1 Officers’ training school in the Navy.

“The DIGNITY program alleviates the pressure of financial insecurity, allowing soldiers to fully dedicate themselves to defending the Jewish homeland, with a clear mind and full heart,” said Bob Jonap, FIDF Westchester supporter.
