Rye Brook Woman ID'd As Victim Pinned Under Vehicle In New Canaan

She was discovered Tuesday morning at a home on South Bald Hill Road in New Canaan.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 71-year-old Rye Brook, NY woman has been identified as the deceased person found pinned underneath a vehicle Tuesday morning on South Bald Hill Road in New Canaan, according to police.

Kathleen Hofer was found unresponsive under the vehicle, which was parked at a residence, and New Canaan emergency personnel were called to the scene.

"Arriving first responders located the victim underneath the vehicle, and it was determined that the victim was deceased and had been underneath the vehicle for an unknown length of time," wrote New Canaan police in a statement.

The investigation into this incident is still ongoing and being handled by the New Canaan Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit, according to police officials. The State Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

"Further information will be released upon completion of the investigation," officials added.
