Rye City Primary Guide: Who's On The Ballot, How To Vote

RYE, NY — A Democratic primary will take place June 22 in the city of Rye as candidates for mayor seek a chance to be on their party's ballot line in November.

Who's on the ballot:

Mayoral race: Mayor Joshua D. Cohn and Danielle Tagger-Epstein are vying to be the Democratic candidate in November. Incumbent Cohn is endorsed by County Executive George Latimer, Rye Democrats and Rye City Republicans. Tagger-Epstein received endorsements from Hispanic Democrats of Westchester and Hudson Valley Stonewall Democrats.

How To Vote In The 2021 Primary Election:

Early voting will take place June 12 - 2o. The hours vary.

Primary Day voting takes place from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on June 22. Check the Westchester County Polling Place Lookup.

Absentee voting:

This year, you may vote absentee if you will be:

1. Absent from Westchester on Election Day.
2. Unable to appear at the polls due to temporary or permanent illness or disability (temporary illness includes being unable to appear due to risk of contracting or spreading a communicable disease like COVID-19).
3. Unable to appear because you are the primary caregiver of one or more individuals who are ill or physically disabled.
4. A resident or patient of a Veterans Health Administration Hospital.
5. Detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony.

To apply for an absentee ballot, either by requesting an application or letter of application by mail, or sending an email or fax for an absentee ballot, the deadline is June 15.

The last day to apply in person for an absentee ballot is June 21.

Absentee ballots must be postmarked by June 15 or taken to the Westchester County Board of Elections by June 21. A mailed-in absentee ballot must be received by the local board of elections no later than June 29.
