Rye Y Health Fair Draws 100+ In Mamaroneck
The outdoor event was moved indoors due to an ominous weather forecast.

RYE, NY — Despite the threat of thunderstorms and a weather-related change of venue, the fifth Annual Access to Care Health Fair, organized by the Rye YMCA, drew nearly 130 Mamaroneck residents who took advantage of free health screenings and information. Originally planned as an outdoor event, the Aug. 11 Health Fair was moved to the Community Resource Center due to an ominous forecast.
The mood indoors however, was festive, as residents, many with young children in tow, had their blood pressure checked, were screened for pre-diabetes, learned about nutrition and collected handouts ranging from stress balls to hand sanitizer, according to a spokeswoman.
Across CRC’s courtyard, children colored and received glittery tattoos while munching on healthy snacks and listening to a D.J. spin music. Each family received one free backpack filled with school supplies, courtesy of Family Services of Westchester and the Mamaroneck Rotary Club.
