Rye YMCA Poster Contest Winners
Students from Rye High School participated in the Rye YMCA's "Heads Up: A Distracted Walking and Driving Poster Contest."
The Rye YMCA has announced the winners of the Heads Up: A Distracted Walking and Driving Poster Contest. The three winners are all students from Rye High School. In first place is Maeve McGowan, second place is Ellen Scully and in third place is Katrina Roth.

As part of the Safe Routes to School initiative, the Rye Y invited students to create posters that show the dangers of distracted walking and driving. Rye High School students that took Nichole Chiffriller’s classes not only participated but also, started a discussion on the class about distracted walking and driving. The students narrowed down the selection to 21 posters from the original 66.

The panel of judges for this contest ranged from Rye City Mayor Sack, to Westchester County Department of Public Works and Transportation, to Executive Director of the Rye YMCA. This panel of 8 judges then selected the three winners.

The winning posters are being exhibited at the Rye Arts Center from January 22-February 14th. The 21 finalist posters will then be exhibited at the Rye Free Reading Room.

Members of the community are invited to the Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony for the exhibit, which will be held on Wednesday, January 22nd from 5:30pm to 7pm at The Rye Arts Center at 51 Milton Road in Rye, NY
