USGA Will Return To Westchester For August Championship
Westchester Country Club in Rye will host the U.S. Golf Association's 122nd U.S. Women's Amateur Championship this summer.
RYE, NY — After hosting a pandemic-affected, but successful U.S. Open Championship in September, the USGA will again return to the Hudson Valley for a Championship in August.
The USGA will bring the 122nd U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship to Westchester Country Club in Rye. The competition will take place on the club’s “West Course” from August 2 to 8. The championship is free and open to spectators. The competition will also air on the Golf Channel and Peacock.
“We are pleased to welcome our friends at USGA and golf enthusiasts back to the County after hosting last year’s U.S. Open at Winged Foot,” County Executive George Latimer said in a statement announcing the tournament. “We are proud to show off our world-class courses and share our slice of NY State with the competitors and fans.”

Qualifying will take place on August 2 and 3. Match play will begin on August 4, with 1,500 golfers narrowed down to a field of 64. The final 36-hole match will take place on August 8.
USGA spokesperson John Bodenhamer cites Westchester County’s essential role in the history of golf. Fittingly, Westchester is where the first national amateur championship was played and the first national golf open that included professional athletes.

“We are so pleased to be back in Westchester County, a place that has so much golf and USGA history,” Bodenhamer said. “The U.S. Women’s Amateur is one of our fastest growing championships, something that was evident this year with record-breaking entry numbers, and something that is not surprising given the growing popularity and momentum in women’s golf. We cannot wait to crown a champion at Westchester Country Club in just a few short weeks.”
