William “Bill” Lucia Sr. Of Rye
An epic celebration of his life is being planned for the summer.

RYE, NY — William “Bill” Lucia Sr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at The Compound on March 27, 2019, after a brief battle with stage four lung cancer.
He is survived by his wife Michele; children Jennifer (Jordan), Francesca, and William; mother, Jane; sister, Evelyn; nieces and nephews, Catherine, Jonathan, Lisa, and Joseph; godson, Ian; longtime best buds, Mitch and John; grand-dogs, Rocco and Wade; and an army of family and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Vito; brother, Thomas; and grandparents Earl, Miriam, Tomaso and Vita.
Bill was born in New Rochelle and spent his formative years in Seaford, later moving to Rye where he graduated high school in June 1969. A young man of many talents, his early years were filled with marching band, the wrestling team and learning to play golf. Bill spent his summers working at Rye Playland and Korvette’s, and getting into just the right amount of trouble.

In the early 1970s, he joined his brother-in-law John Smith at his construction company in Rhode Island, and it was there that he realized he had a penchant for building beautiful things. Bill spent the next 40 years doing what he loved, starting and running two successful remodeling businesses based in Westchester County. He found his greatest pride in hard work, providing for his family, and taking care of the people who worked for him.
Bill’s legacy lies in the essence of who he was — a man of integrity with a big heart and a generous spirit (and a splash of stubbornness for good measure). His door was always open to friends and family: fried meatballs and Sunday gravy on the stove, the Jets on TV and a seat on his beloved porch — cigar and scotch in hand. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for the people he loved. He will be missed forever.
