Ballet will help you have better posture. Good posture is the correct alignment of body parts. From the moment the ballet class starts the teacher speaks about proper placement of the body. Ballet teaches us to support the right amount of muscle tension against gravity. Why is posture so important? Without posture and the muscles that support it, we would simply fall to the ground. Good posture helps us keep bones and joints in correct alignment so that our muscles are used correctly, decreasing the abnormal wearing of joint surfaces that could result in degenerative arthritis and joint pain. Proper posture helps reduce lower back pain. Bad posture can cause a slump that smashes your inside organs together, and makes it harder for your lungs and intestines to work.
