2 Hurt In Holtsville House Fire

Two people were taken to the hospital Monday afternoon.

HOLTSVILLE, NY — Two people were injured in a house fire in Holtsville Monday afternoon.

The blaze broke out at home on Donna Court shortly after 1:30 p.m. A Holtsville Fire Department-EMS captain, who lives next door, assisted the residents and their dog safely out of the home.

The Holtsville Fire Department, with assistance from the Farmingville, Ronkonkoma, Holbrook, Medford and North Patchogue departments, quickly extinguished the fire.

A resident and a first responder were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

While the Holtsville Fire Department was responding to the fire, the department was also activated for a maternity call. Paramedic Nick Calace arrived on scene and helped deliver a healthy baby girl.

"It was an amazing job by all members of the department and paid staff to put out the fire quickly and deliver a healthy baby," Holtsville Fire Chief Adam Sclafani told Sachem Patch.
