BREAKING: Two men and a woman were transported to Stony Brook Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Suffolk police said.

HOLTSVILLE, NY — Three people were injured after a two-car crash caused one of the cars to veer off the roadway into a tree and catch fire in Holtsville Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.

Just before 12 a.m., Thomas Monahan, 32, of Coram was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Impala northbound on North Ocean Avenue when the car collided with a 2018 Nissan Rogue that was traveling westbound on Jamaica Avenue, police said. The Chevrolet then veered off the roadway, where it struck a tree and caught fire, according to police.

Monahan, 32, and his passenger, Amanda Deangelo, 28, who is also from Coram, were transported by a local ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital Medical Center for treatment of “serious, but non-life-threatening injuries,” police said. The Nissan’s driver, Yong Hu, 44, of Staten Island, was also transported to Stony Brook for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
