Ax Throwing Comes To Long Island

Long Island's first ax throwing facility is drawing residents to try a new activity.

Ronkonkoma, NY — Long Islanders can finally throw axes around for fun without going to the city. Ax throwing, a trendy new sport and social activity, has been growing in popularity and Molly Hatchet's Urban Axe Throwing in Ronkonkoma is the Island's first facility.

Jon Heitner, of Ronkonkoma, tried ax throwing for the first time after it was recommended to him by family members.

"I love to do sort of off the beaten path things that people may not try so we gave it a shot. It’s a lot of fun. My friends and I all had a pretty easy time learning, although the guy who taught us said it was difficult for some. I think everyone who tried it really enjoyed the competitive side of it. We played games that were similar to what you’d do in darts but throwing an axe instead of a dart made it much more interesting."
