Ballet Long Island Celebrates 34 Years of Performing The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker, the holiday ballet classic, tells the story of a child's delight when a beloved toy magically comes to life and snowflakes dance. 34 years ago, Debra Punzi, had the dream of a ballet company that would allow young dancers to perform alongside professional ballet dancers. Ballet Long Island, as the company is now called, is a dream come to life. Though some may call that accomplishment magic, Debra Punzi attributes it to hard work, patience, and commitment on the part of many people."We've used dance to build bridges," said. "We bring the community to the party. Our performances are family friendly and fun. It’s very important that our shows be accessible to everyone."For that reason, feel that this year's 34th annual production of "The Nutcracker” is a particularly appropriate way to celebrate. This year BLI is performing at ,The Noel S. Ruiz TheaterAt CM Performing Arts Center

Ballet Long Island in Ronkonkoma and The College of Staten Island.
