Delays On The LIRR Ronkonkoma Branch
Update: LIRR establishing alternate service with limited shuttle train.

3 p.m. update: According to the Long Island Railroad, service has been restored between Jamaica and Hicksville with residual delays on the Ronkonkoma branch. The LIRR's website is showing "Good Service" on the Ronkonkoma line.
1 p.m. update:Â The LIRR said it is establishing alternate service for Sachem commuters to and from the Ronkonkoma branch with a shuttle train that will operate between Hicksville and Babylon, with train transfers at Hicksville to the Ronkonkoma branch.

A person hit by a train in New Hyde Park is causing delays on the Long Island Railroad’s Ronkonkoma branch.
According to the LIRR, service remains suspended between Jamaica and Hicksville due to a non-passenger train striking an unauthorized person on the tracks. LIRR officials are advising customers to take alternate service on the Babylon/Montauk branches.

It was not immediately known if the delays would impact the Friday evening commute.
New Hyde Park Patch, citing an LIRR spokesman, reported that the train was traveling eastbound and struck the person at about 10:40 a.m. Friday. The gender of the victim or his/her condition has not yet been released.
