The Long Island Flute Club's Fall Ensemble Concert

The silvery sounds of Long Island flutists will be on full display at the Long Island Flute Club’s Fall Ensemble concert on October 30, 2011.  The concert will feature the LIFC’s Professional Flute Choir.  This 16 piece ensemble, conducted by Deborah Schild, features all members of the flute family from the tiny piccolo to the large bass flute.    

The program will feature a wide variety of music including for all to enjoy.  Featured on the program will be “Carnival of the Animals a Grand Zoological Fantasy” by Camille Saint-Saens, Johansses Brahms’ “Lo, How a Rose” as well as Catherine McMichael’s “Hill Country Sketches”.  

“Chocolate Mousse” by composer Nancy Wood features only alto and bass flutes to create its rich and tasty sound.  “Rondo All Samba” featuring the themes of Mozart was specially “de-composed” for the Long Island Flute Club by Ray Osnato.  For those looking to start their Halloween celebrations a day early, listen to the sounds of skeletons and spirits in “Dance Macabre”. In addition to the Long Island Flute Club’s Student Honors Choir will also perform.  

These talented students selected from all over Long Island will perform several pieces on the program.  Both choirs will perform together for a very special concert finale. To be selected for the Honor’s Flute Choir students had to perform a Level VI solo at the 2009 NYSSMA Festival and receive a score of A or higher.  The Long Island Flute Club’s Student Honors Choir is directed by Danielle Schulman.    The concert will be performed at the Longwood Public Library at 2:00pm on Sunday, October 30, 2011.
