Everson, Fierro Commit to C.W. Post

Will play college football close to home.

Sachem East seniors C.J. Everson and Nicholas Fierro have committed to play football at C.W. Post.

They'll join Sachem East alums Chris DiIorio and Joe Botti, who are both notable players in Sachem history and skilled athletes on the Post roster.

Everson and Fierro helped bring a level of stability and notoriety to the football program at Sachem East, leading the Arrows to a 6-4 record and their best season in school history.

C.W. Post, a Division II program, competes in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and finished the 2011 season with a 7-4 record.

“It's always been a dream of mine to play college football, and I'm just very thankful for the opportunity,” Everson said. “There were a few other schools in the mix but in the end, Post was the best option for a bunch of reasons. Competition wise, Post is one of the best on the Island and I want to go somewhere like that where I'm going to need to push my self day in and day out and give it my all just to have the chance to compete.”

Both players were thrilled with the proximity of Post to the Sachem community, allowing for friends and family to support them at games.

“Being close to home is also a great part about going to Post because I am very family oriented and having them only 40 minutes away is a great thing,” Fierro said.

“At the same time,” Everson added, “I want to be able to come home and see them as well and be able to support my former teammates at some of their games next season.”

Everson and Fierro, who will room together at Post, are the only football players from Sachem East to commit to college for that sport so far this season.

“Overall I am very excited and thankful for the opportunity to play at the next level, and I couldn't have made it here without my teammates, family members, and friends supporting along the way,” Everson said.

“Playing football in college gives me something to look forward to,” Fierro said. “It will be a new experience and help me focus in school.”
