Fire Rips Through Ronkonkoma Apartment Complex

RONKONKOMA, NY – Several fire departments battled a blaze at a Ronkonkoma apartment complex Friday morning. It was the first working fire on Long Island of the new year.

The fire broke out around 10:45 a.m. at Colony Park Apartments at 500 Peconic St.

Four apartments were damaged and eight units were evacuated. Dozens of residents were displaced, but no injuries were reported. Firefighters rescued multiple pets from the fire.

The cause of the fire, the first working fire on Long Island of the new year, is under investigation.

In 2019, a woman was forced to drop her baby from a second flood balcony after a massive fire broke out at the same apartment complex.
