Heron Statue Officially Lands in Farmingville

If you drive by the Teachers Federal Credit Union building on North Ocean Avenue in Farmingville, you'll notice a giant heron statue not sitting on the property.

The heron, a 40-foot-high, two-ton sculpture sits in front of the six-story office building, which has been renamed the Heron Professional Center by its principal owners Paul Elliot and Jim Miller.

''It's a piece of artwork that is very beautiful and I want to share it with everybody,'' Miller said of the sculpture, in a statement.

Elliot and Miller’s Medford-based Ocean 11 Realty LLC purchased the 50,000- square-foot, five-story former TFCU headquarters just north of the Long Island Expressway late in 2011.

The placement of the heron sculpture is part of the new owners’ plans to makeover the property, which also include the installation of energy-efficient lighting, lobby and common space renovations and new landscaping. Most of the building is being marketed through an office condominium offering.
