Hour-by-Hour Long Island Snowstorm Forecast

Snow expected to begin Friday afternoon.

The snow spared Long Island on Friday morning, but that is about change this afternoon.

A winter winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service is now in effect and lasts until 2 a.m. Saturday. Most of the island is still expected to see 4-6 inches of snow. The Twin Forks may see a little less, 3-4 inches, the NWS says. A trace of ice accumulation is also possible.

The Friday evening commute promises to be a mess with reduced visibilities and slippery roads. The bulk of the snow is expected to fall between 2-8 p.m.
