Keith Kinkaid, Farmingville Native, Signs With Montreal Canadiens

SACHEM, NY — Keith Kinkaid has come a long way since graduating from Sachem High School East in 2008. The Montreal Canadians announced Monday the team agreed to a one-year, $1.75 million contract for the 2019-20 season with Kinkaid, according to NHL.com.

The 29-year old goaltender has played in the NHL since 2012, playing in 151 games and helping the New Jersey Devils make the playoffs in the 2017-18 season. He has a career save percentage of .906 and 2.90 goals against average, according to his player profile on NHL.com.

Kinkaid started in 38 games during the 2018-19 season for the Devils, winning 15 and losing 18 while posting three shutouts over about 2,300 minutes of play.

Before making the NHL, Kinkaid, a Farmingville native, attended Union College for two years, where he was awarded the Ken Dryden Award as the best goal tender in the ECAC. Prior to that, he played locally for the Long Island Gulls 18U team and the Suffolk PAL Juniors, according to Elite Prospects.

Kinkaid wrote in a Monday morning tweet, "Bonjour @CanadiensMTL & Happy Canada Day!"
