Lecture at LIMM - This Sunday, February 21st
Author Bill Bleyer to share stories from his book Long Island and The Civil War
Although no battles were fought on Long Island, the Civil War affected everyone living in Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties. More than 3,000 young men answered their country’s call to preserve the Union by serving in the army or navy. Long Island and the Civil War explores fascinating stories from this period in history, , from the 1860 presidential campaign that polarized the region to the wartime experiences of Long Islanders in the field.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase following the lecture.
