LI Town-By-Town Snow Totals So Far; How Much More Is Coming

Nearly 250 crashes were reported on the island Thursday as snow created havoc on the roadways.

LONG ISLAND, NY — The National Weather Service has reported unofficial snow totals for many Long Island towns Thursday. An inch or two more is in the forecast before the storm departs Friday evening.

Deer Park saw a half-foot of snow accumulate Thursday, the highest reported total on the island.

Nearly 250 crashes were reported on local roads Thursday. A man was charged with a DWI after flipping his car on Sunrise Highway around 8:10 a.m., police said.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. Friday. Light snow and sleet with a chance of freezing drizzle is likely overnight before the precipitation turns to all snow by the Friday morning commute. The map below shows how much more snow is expected to fall.
