Long Island Company Wins Small Business NASA Grant
The Ronkonkoma aerospace firm was one of 289 small businesses to receive a grant for innovative technologies.

RONKONKOMA, NY— A Ronkonkoma technology company was awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from NASA. Innoveering, LLC, builds hypersonic propulsion systems and environmental sensors.
Last week, NASA announced the 289 small businesses that were named as recipients of the grant, and noted Innoveering as being a Hispanic American-0wned business and first time grant awardee.
"Innoveering will use its SBIR award to develop a wind sensor to enable a flight path control system for high-altitude scientific balloon operations. Outside of NASA, this technology could aid in providing more accurate weather predictions," the news release said.

NASA sped up the grant program to help alleviate some of the strain the pandemic has caused small businesses.
“This year, to get funds into the hands of small businesses sooner, we accelerated the release of the 2021 SBIR/STTR Phase I solicitation by two months. We hope the expedited funding helps provide a near-term boost for future success,” Jim Reuter, associate administrator for the agency’s Space Technology Mission, said.
