LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY — The Long Island MacArthur Airport has reportedly received $1.5 million in grants and is set to secure millions more from the Federal Aviation Administration to build a new 100,000-square foot-concourse.

While the exact amount is not set, officials plan to apply for nearly $67 million from the FAA to complete the construction, airport Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken told Newsday. The money will go to fund a new west concourse, improvements to the plane parking ramp, and to renovate MacArthur's main terminal.

The news comes after Frontier, which uses the west concourse, said it would add 38 round trips a week for the upcoming winter schedule.
