Man Arrested for Attempting to Set Fire to Three Cars

Alexander Rivera was arrested on Tuesday in connection with an incident that occurred in March.

On Aug. 19, a Central Islip man was arrested for attempting to set three cars on fire in the parking lot of a Commack bar in March, police report.

Alexander Rivera, 35, was seen pouring gasoline over three vehicles in the parking lot of The Scene Restaurant and Lounge, located at 70 Motor Parkway, on March 16 at 2:40 a.m., according to police. Rivera fled the scene after being observed by a witness who was also in the parking lot at the time, police said.

Suffolk County Arson Section detectives arrested Rivera on Tuesday at 8:06 p.m. and charged him with two counts of Attempted Arson. He is being held at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
