Man Dies After Being Struck By Freight Train On LIRR Tracks
The LIRR says "a trespasser was struck by a freight train" early Wednesday.

HOLTSVILLE, NY –A man died after he was struck by a freight train on the Long Island Rail Road tracks early Wednesday, authorities said.
It happened around 2:50 a.m. near the Waverly Avenue crossing in Holtsville.
It's unclear why the man was on the tracks, but LIRR referred to him as a "trespasser."

The 3:45 a.m. train from Ronkonkoma to Greenport and the 5:25 a.m. train from Greenport to Ronkonkoma were canceled as police investigated.
The adult male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. MTA Police detectives are conducting an investigation. The train appears to be a freight train which was heading west and nobody on board was injured. pic.twitter.com/jvXJyL4Fop
