Man Killed In Crash On Southern State Parkway

WEST HEMPSTEAD, NY –A 23-year-old man was killed in a crash on the Southern State Parkway in West Hempstead Sunday evening, New York State Police said.

Jordan C. Pieters was driving a 2015 BMW M5 westbound west of Exit 17 when he lost control of the car and rear-ended a 2003 Toyota Camry around 6:30 p.m. The BMW then struck a guardrail, exited the roadway and struck multiple trees on the northern shoulder, police said.

Pieters, of Elmont, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, a 35-year-old Franklin Square woman, and a juvenile passenger were not injured.
