Man Tries To Rob LI Gas Station Before Robbing 7-Eleven: Police

He was armed with a knife early Monday, police say.

FARMINGVILLE, NY – Police are looking for a man who tried to rob a gas station and then robbed a 7-Eleven on Long Island early Monday.

According to Suffolk police, a man approached a store employee outside of the Mobil station at 950 Portion Road in Lake Ronkonkoma, displayed a knife and demanded cash at about 2 a.m. The employee refused and the man fled east on Portion Road in a white SUV.

A man fitting the same description entered the 7-Eleven at 710 Horseblock Road in Farmingville, just over two miles from Mobil, around 2:10 a.m. He displayed a knife and demanded cash from the counter clerk. The clerk complied and the man fled in a white SUV.

Police did not release a description of the robber. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
