'Midnight on Main St.' New Year's Eve Celebration in Patchogue
Event will feature fireworks by Grucci.

The Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, Inc. will host “Midnight on Main St.” on Wednesday, Dec. 31 from 8 – 9 p.m. at Capital One Plaza in Patchogue. The only event of its kind on Long Island, Midnight on Main St. will celebrate New Year’s Eve 2015.
“In 2014, the media highlighted how Patchogue is “ahead of its time,” so it’s more than appropriate that we be the first to ring in the new year,” said David Kennedy, executive director of the Patchogue Chamber. “And, just as gray has sometimes been described as “the new black,” 9 p.m. is the new midnight in Patchogue. We invite everyone to stay after the event and visit the many great downtown Patchogue establishments.”
Originally, the event was planned for later in the evening, but in working with the Village of Patchogue, public safety agencies, local businesses and organizations, Midnight on Main St. will begin at 8 p.m.

The event is a New Year’s Eve celebration complete with an illuminated ball, designed and created by Signarama and NorthStar Sign and Neon, which will rise from the roof of Capital One Bank at 116 East Main St. at the stroke of 9 p.m. At that time, a display of grand illuminations will be set off by Grucci Fireworks, thanks to a generous donation by the Christmas N’ Patchogue Committee. DJ Jay Letterman will be on hand to play music beginning at 8 p.m. to entertain the crowd. Attendees will receive party hats, noise makers and hot beverages to keep warm.
“We are extremely excited to be the first on Long Island to hold a Time Square-style New Year’s Eve celebration,” said Gerry Crean, Midnight on Main St. Event Committee chair. “A lot of time, energy and financial support came together in making this happen. I thank my committee, the Village of Patchogue, Patchogue Fire Department, all local public safety agencies, as well as all sponsors.”

“This is a perfect way for us to celebrate how 2014 was an amazing year for Patchogue’s continued renaissance,” said Greater Patchogue Chamber President Jacqueline Hensley. “We hope this will become an annual event. Our ball will be rising since Patchogue is a community on the rise.”
