Helps film a public service announcement with Matthew J. Barbis.

The Rose Brucia Educational Foundation has partnered with the New York Islanders in their quest for stranger safety awareness.

Last month, founder/chairman Matthew J. Barbis filmed a public service announcement with Islanders legend and NHL Hall of Famer Mike Bossy at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y.

“We’re very excited that NHL legend Mike Bossy has joined the Rose Brucia Educational Foundation’s Public Service Campaign,” Barbis said. “Mike is an enthusiastic advocate for children and an excellent role model.”

The PSA is about sporting arena safety. Bossy and Barbis talk about the proper skills to use in that specific setting.

"Everyone loves the thrill of attending a live game," Bossy said in the video. "There’s lots of excitement in the air, tons of people cheering, the smell of great food all around you, just a really good time. Even though you’ll be paying attention to the game, you must remember your stranger safety awareness skills."

The PSA appears on the Jumbotron at the Coliseum during breaks at Islanders hockey games.

“The Rose Brucia Educational Foundation is a wonderful organization," the Islanders said in a statement. "They do so many great things in our community that it’s a no-brainer to partner with them. Helping to promote them and create greater awareness is certainly something that we as Long Island’s team pride ourselves in.”

On January 16 the Islanders will host . Prior to the game in the lower lobby of the Nassau Coliseum the foundation will be hosting an educational class on arena safety.

A portion of the proceeds from ever ticket sold will go towards helping reduce child abductions in America. Tickets are being offered for $40 (lower level, usually $84) and $25 (mezzanine, usually $40). Tickets purchased for the lower level come with an authentic Islanders tee shirt.

After the game, every child in attendance will have a chance to take a shot on the goal.
