Novelists To Visit WHB Bookstore
Matthew McGevna and Kaylie Jones to appear at Books & Books on Main St., to read discuss latest novels.

Novelists Matthew McGevna and Kaylie Jones will bring their latest works — Little Beasts and The Anger Meridian— to Books & Books in Westhampton Beach on Thursday, August 27. The authors will read from their work and lead a discussion afterward. The event begins at 7 p.m.
Kaylie Jones is the author of six previous works, which have been praised by the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times Book Review, the Washington Times, Self Magazine, Norman Mailer, Colum McCann, and Ann Hood, among many others. As the daughter of James Jones— author of such classics as The Thin Red Line and From Here to Eternity — she is also part of a literary legacy. With The Anger Meridian, Kaylie returns with her first novel in over ten years: a thrilling, fast-paced drama centered around three generations of women and the web of lies and deception that surrounds them. It’s been praised as “a literary treat” by Booklist and “a superlatively gripping story of self-discovery” that “quivers with tension from the opening page” in a STARRED review from Shelf Awareness.
Matthew McGevna’s Little Beasts is the latest book from the new Kaylie Jones Books imprint, curated by Kaylie Jones. Little Beasts captures the aftermath of a Long Island working-class town shaken to its core by a local teenager’s brutal murder of a young boy. This evocative novel— called “a serious, searing debut novel by a wonderful new writer” by Book Riot — is inspired by the 1979 murder of John Pius Jr. in Smithtown, NY that has become mythologized for Long Island children of McGevna’s generation.
