NYPD Officer From Holbrook Charged With Producing Child Porn
The 26-year-old pretended to be a teen and convinced children to send him sexually explicit photos and videos, prosecutors say.
HOLBROOK, NY – An NYPD officer from Holbrook pretended to be a teen and convinced several children to send him sexually explicit images and videos of themselves, federal authorities said.
Carmine Simpson, 26, was arrested at his home Thursday.
Simpson, an officer at the 75th Precinct in Brooklyn, communicated with at least 46 children who appear to have been between the ages of 13 and 17, prosecutors said.

On Twitter alone, Simpson obtained at least 18 photographic images and 33 videos containing sexually exploitative material from children, authorities said.
Simpson often told the children he was 17 and he sent them pictures of himself where he applied a filter to alter his own appearance so that he appeared younger, prosecutors said.

“Instead of protecting the community as a sworn police officer, the defendant has preyed upon and sexually exploited the most vulnerable members,” Seth DuCharme, acting United States attorney for the Eastern District of New York, said in a news release. “The protection of innocent children is a priority for the Department of Justice and this Office will continue to make every effort to ensure that those who contribute to the victimization of children will be brought to justice.”
Simpson was ordered held without bail following an appearance in federal court in Central Islip Thursday. He faces up a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison if convicted of sexual exploitation of a child.
