Police: Holtsville Man Charged with DWI After Crashing into Pole
Passenger, also from Holtsville, was ejected from vehicle, according to police.

A Holtsville man was arrested Sunday morning for driving while intoxicated after he was involved in a motor vehicle crash in which both he and his passenger were seriously injured, police said.
Robert McDowell, 24, was driving his 2005 Nissan south on Blue Point Road, just north of Buckley Road, at 4:30 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a pole. McDowell’s passenger, Courtney Lester, 21, was ejected from the vehicle, according to police.
Police said Lester and McDowell both of Ashland Gate, were transported by Holtsville Fire Department to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for treatment of serious injuries.

McDowell was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle first degree. He will be arraigned at a later date.
The Nissan was impounded and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
