Sachem East Trio Selected For Prestigious National Volleyball Team
The girls will spend a week in Iowa competing on the GEVA High Performance Volleyball Team.
Three Sachem East athletes–incoming freshman Molly Jandris and sophomores Cierra Dolan and Sarah Mangan–were selected out of over 100 girls at an intensive three-day tryout for the GEVA High Performance Volleyball Team.
Making the team is a huge opportunity for the girls in terms of exposure and top notch training, East girls varsity volleyball head coach Amanda Schmohl told Patch.
This past fall, Molly was selected as the League I “Rookie of the Year” as an 8th grader on varsity. All three girls played together (along with five other Sachem teammates) on the travel team, Long Island Fury, coached by Schmohl. In total, their club team racked up four first place tournament finishes, as well as two second and two third place finishes.

“The off season training helped get the girls ready for this tryout,” Schmohl said. “By the end of the club season, the group as a whole was ready to face bigger and better competition. Molly, Cierra and Sarah are off to a great start in their volleyball careers.”
