Shanahan also played football and is the only Hofstra athlete to be named an All-American in two sports. Following his senior year, he was signed as a free agent by the New York Jets, but failed to make the team. The Sachem alum went on to have a successful lacrosse career, representing Team USA at multiple events and achieving an incredible domestic lacrosse career.

Shanahan will be joining an England coaching staff with fellow American Steve Lydon serving as its head coach.
