Sachem North Freshman Joe Scally Makes Pro Soccer Debut
Joe Scally took a freshman social studies final Wednesday before becoming the youngest player to take the field in NYCFC history.

It was a night to remember for 15-year-old Joe Scally. The freshman at Sachem High School North took a social studies final Wednesday before heading to Red Bull Arena in New Jersey where he made his professional soccer debut for New York City FC.
Scally became the youngest person to ever take the field for NYCFC when he subbed in for legend David Villa in the 57th minute in a U.S. Open Cup match against the New York Red Bulls.
“Joe is the future of our football club,” NYCFC Head Coach Patrick Vieira said after the game, according to a Pro Soccer USA report. “He’s a really strong personality, he’s got talent. We have to work well with him in the next couple of years because I believe he’s got the potential to be the right back of this football club in the future.”

Scally, of Lake Grove, is the second youngest player to ever sign a MLS contract, behind only Freddy Adu.
In an interview last week (watch it below) shared by Sachem Schools, Scally said it would be "a dream come true to play in an MLS game."
