Sachem North's Dylan Ciolino Playing with Stick to Honor Mom

Has ribbons on stick head to support his mother's fight against MS.

Sachem North junior Dylan Ciolino will bring some new flavor to Fred Fusaro Alumni Stadium this spring with a lacrosse stick head decked out in ribbons to honor his mother Mary, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis.

Issued by Lacrosse Unlimited, and profiled on their website last week, the stick is a stroke of passion for the young goalie who aims to honor his mother every time he touches the field.

“It helps," he said, "get the word out about the disease."

“What Dylan is doing is great because he's bringing awareness about a disease,” said Sachem coach Jay Mauro. “Hopefully this will help not only his mother but everybody else who suffers from MS.”

Ciolino got the idea to play with a special stick head from his older brother Cody, now a sophomore at Hartwick, who also played with a stick dyed with ribbons.

“I wanted to follow in his footsteps,” Dylan said. “The main reason behind the stick is to show to my mom that she is always out there with me on the field and that she is my biggest motivation.”
